How Much Can you Make?

If you spend any time on Instagram, you’ve likely seen at least one influencer promoting a product or service of some sort. As an influencer, there’s money to be made in the social media industry based on things like promotion. It sometimes seems that most influencers live off of their influencer incomes. Is that really possible, though? How much can someone really make off an Instagram post about any product or service? Let’s get into the different ways that influencers make money.

Influencers Revenue Streams

Brand ambassadors

Becoming a brand ambassador is a viable way for social media influencers to make money.

As of late, ongoing ambassadorships are said to be the most effective method of influencer marketing because of their consistent nature. Companies hire brand ambassadors for long-term relationships and pay them on a regular basis.

It is the responsibility of the influencer to become the best ambassador on the brand or product and broadcast his or her partnership with the brand on all social media channels.

Typically, brand ambassadors are employed by the brand when they are naturally a good fit and align well with the brand and the target audience.

Brand ambassadors can be macro-influencers including celebrities, or micro-influencers. This depends on the goals of the campaign and the brand.

Depending on the budget of the brand, brand ambassadors can make anywhere from $100-$10,000 for their partnership.

Social media sponsored posts

Sponsored social media posts are more of an agile approach to building brand awareness and exposure.

This is by far, the most common way for influencers to make money, especially when they’re starting out.  A sponsored social media post is when a brand asks an influencer to create content featuring the brand and share it with their followers.

There are many forms of sponsored social media posts, from sharing the brand’s content to promoting a brand’s new product.

Be aware that each influencer is offered a different form or amount of payment from a brand.

For some, they can charge up to 10K for a post, while others may offer a free item.

Sponsored blog posts

On the same note, influencers can monetize personal blogs and websites to collaborate and create content for brands.

Blogs are great because they are in-depth and allow influencers to share more detailed information with their community, such as comprehensive product or service reviews.

Blogging doesn’t just help influencers make money from their creative, content writing, photography, and society. But it also benefits brands with links that take consumers directly to products and services, getting them closer to gaining new customers.

It’s important to note that not all blog content should be sponsored or designed to sell a product. A good influencer will have a mix of organic content and branded collaborations and will be transparent about sponsored content.

For blog posts, influencers can get paid anywhere from $500 to $5000 per blog post.

Follower Count Isn’t Everything

Most people will tell you that bigger is better, but it’s not necessarily true. In fact, the more followers that someone has, the less engagement they have. It’s also a lot more expensive to use macro-influencers. Micro-influencers tend to have higher engagement rates because of their follower-to-like ratio on their posts. They also have a more loyal audience. Although big-name celebrities and influencers are appealing, they aren’t necessarily the best way to promote a product.  Unless they’re a real celebrity, the engagement rate is often much lower in comparison to micro-influencers. It is also important to consider how much it costs to use a macro influencer. Prices are much higher when working with macro-influencers because of how big their platforms are. The low engagement and the high cost make it far more difficult to benefit from a partnership with a macro-influencer. In some cases, working with a macro Influencer is effective. However, they are often more difficult to obtain.

No matter what you think about influencers, not everyone has what it takes to be one. This means that anyone has the potential to make money as an influencer. Influencers are transforming the way the world views media and entrepreneurship. They are changing the way that businesses do business. They are building loyal communities and creating thriving content with fulfilling businesses that want to pay them the big bucks. The more that they work, the easier it becomes for them to be successful in the influencer market.
